Professor Dr. Sarder A. Nayeem is the pioneer laparoscopic surgeon in the country. He is also the Chief Consultant Laparoscopic Surgeon & Chairman of Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, Dhaka, President of the Bangladesh chapter of "Association of Medical Doctors for Asia (AMDA)" from 1989 and MD of AMDA Agro Farms Ltd. Furthermore, he is the Chairman and CEO of Dhaka Evergreen Retirement Homes Pvt. Ltd., the country's first exclusive 5-star retirement resort near Dhaka's Purbachal New City. Mr. Nayeem initiated and performed the first ever laparoscopic cholecystectomy in Bangladesh in December 1991.
Mr. Nayeem did his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College, PhD in surgery, Laparoscopic surgery
and laser surgery from The University of Tokyo. He is the fellow of the American College of
Surgeons (FACS). He has around 40 years of experience in the Medicine, Pharmaceuticals,
General Administration & Management sector.
Mr. Nayeem is also very actively involved in social activities. He is a life member of Endoscopic
and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA), active member of International Society of
Surgeons (ISS/SIC), life member of Society of Surgeons of Bangladesh (SSB), founding life
member of Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Bangladesh (SLSB), life membership of Indian
Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES), founding life membership of Asia
Pacific Hernia Society (APHS).
Prof. Dr. Sarder A. Nayeem was born in a glorious Muslim Family of Gojaria under the
Munshigonj district of the country.
